Microwave Background was an early band and lo-fi music project from Will Ryerson (aka Will Rockwell Ryerson), active between 2001-09.

Mostly a home recording endeavor, Ryerson wrote, performed, recorded and mixed a series of albums on four-track cassette, and self-released them in limited quantities on CD-R on his Passing Tone label. He did play live shows sporadically, especially after moving to Baltimore in 2006 and forming a more consistent live band.

Ryerson went on to form Other Colors and also play in many other bands in Baltimore, including Flock Of Dimes, Small Sur and Outer Spaces. His current band/project is called Giant Wave.
