Peter Ritchie Calder

Real name: Peter Ritchie Calder

Effective period / Period of releases: 1953

British writer Ritchie Calder narrated a 1955 album “Science in Our Lives” presented as various “observations” about how science relates to man and how we organise the world. Calder was a socialist and peace activist, and was interested in the public understanding of science and this rare album presents a very “human” view of science. By contrast, Calder's voice is disarmingly robotic as sampled on the track "Human Spiritual" from the 1996 self-titled album by Mockingbone, which credits him as vocalist: "Create a better world for mankind... enlarge the human spirit".
