Pat Whitefield

Real name: Joseph Patrick Whitefield

Austin, Texas bassist, born January 2nd, 1947 and died August 5, 2019.
He began playing music as a teenager with instrumental guitar quartet The Nite Owls in Austin, followed by PAR 3 in Dallas. Returning to Austin, he was joined the band The Sweetarts.
Whitefield played with the Fabulous Thunderbirds from 1975 to 1976, Marcia Ball Band from 1979 to 1981, Angela Strehli Band from 1981 to 1988 and Anson Funderburgh and The Rockets from 1994 to 2001. He was a house bassist at Antone's and a member of the Little Elmore Reed Blues Band that played regularly at TC's Lounge. He also led the J.P. Whitfield Band and The Leg Hounds.
He owned Comanche Recordes and LuKat Publishing.
