Red played his 1930's Kalamazoo flattops with a DeArmond soundhole pickup and accompanied himself with the Slingerland kick drum / tambourine combination and rack-mounted harmonica he uses live on the streets everyday. No overdubs or other effects were used whatsoever. Extreme effort was made to digitally master this analog recording with the highest fidelity possible.

Recorded July 29,30,31 and August 3 & 10, 2003.

Red Hot was recorded on an optimized Ampex 350 full track vacuum tube tape recorder at 15ips with an AKG c12b large diaphragm tube microphone in the omnidirectional mode. An AKG BX10 analog spring reverb was used at the time of taping and a BX20 was used at mastering for echo.
