Identical twins Linda and Ellen Kahn set up Twinart as artists, performers and curators. They began experimenting with video and film in their late 20s in New York (USA). They found a mentor in and collaborated with Nam June Paik. The duo started digital painting on the first Quantel Paintbox that arrived in New York City at Broadway Video in 1982. They caught the attention of MTV, Cable and Broadcast Networks and soon they developed careers as creative directors in the entertainment business. They became pioneers in digital media and are recipients of a National Endowment for the Arts fellowship grant in Visual Arts. They have won an Emmy award and their work exhibits internationally in museums and galleries including The Whitney, The Met, Laguna Art Museum, Pompidou Centre, ICA London, Tokyo Video Biennial and Nassau County Museum of Art. In 2022, archival record label Modern Harmonic released the v/a compilation TwinArt Presents: Instant This / Instant That.
