Iván Madarász was born in 1949, a Kossuth, Ferenc Erkel, Bartók–Pásztory prize-winning composer, among others he was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary. Since 1980, he has been a permanent lecturer at the Liszt Ferenc University of Music, where he has been teaching at the department of musicology and theory since 2002. In addition to his previous work in the management of Artisjus, he is a founder and board member of the Association of Hungarian Composers, as well as a curator of several music foundations.
The composer was elected honorary president of Artisjus. The artist was the president of the association from 2014 to February 2022.
