Bryn Fon had already made his mark as the lead singer of Crysbas, but it was Sobin a’r Smaeliaid which propelled him to the front rank of the Welsh pop-rock scene during the late 80s and early 90s. They brought a new wave of popular, melodic rock songs into being, centred around the charismatic performances of Bryn himself. He brought all his talents as actor and showman into play, and made Welsh rock fashionable for thousands of young Welsh fans.
