Soul - disco quartetHailed from Pasadena, California. Discovered by Berry Gordy's sister Gwen Gordy Fuqua and were signed to Motown's Gordy subsidiary in 1977. Active between 1977 - 1983. Fashioned after Martha Reeves & The Vandellas and Supremes. They took their name from the 1976 Supremes album "High Energy" with the 'e' in energy changed to an 'i'). They quickly found success with the R&B/pop hit, "You Can't Turn Me Off (In the Middle of Turning Me On)" (US R&B #2, Pop #12). The group recorded eight albums and scored a total of nine R&B hits before disbanding for solo careers in 1984.
