Gospel group founded at Richmond, Virginia in the early 1970s by Teddy Huffman, The Gems recorded their first gospel album in 1974. Their first hit "Gone" was released in 1978, peaking in the top 5, it remained in the top 40 for over two years.From 1978-1980 they were finalists at the Dove Awards, and in 1981 won in the category 'Traditional Black Gospel Album of the Year' (now known as 'Traditional Gospel Album of the Year') with their album "Incredible."
Members of The Gems have included Burton Lewis, Bill Anderson, and David Dumois.
