Billed as "Tex Ritter And His Texans", they were the first artist signed with the newly-formed Capitol Records as well as its first Western singer and group. Their first recording session was on June 11, 1942. They released six singles from 1942 to 1945 under this name.

Though not confirmed, it is speculated that his ‘Texans’ were actually The Sons Of The Pioneers, a group more usually associated with Roy Rogers than Ritter.
