Real name: Johann Heinrich Christoph Holzschuher

German social worker and writer of church songs.

Famous for writing the lyrics of the second and third stanza of the well-known Christmas song 'O du fröhliche' (1827).

Born: 17 February 1798 in Wunsiedel, Upper Franconia, Germany
Died: 30 December 1848 in the Castle of Bug, Upper Franconia, Germany
