Real name: Βιτσέντζος Κορνάρος [Vitsentzos Kornaros]

Cretan artist [Poet] Born at Σητεία [Siteia], Herakleion, Crete, Greece. Husband to Μαριέττα Ζενό , father to Ελένη Κορνάρου [Helen Kornarou] and Κατερίνα Κορνάρου [Katerina Kornarou]
The greatest and most influential writer of Cretan literature, he wrote: Ερωτόκριτος [Erotokritos] with 10.000 lyrics and «Η Θυσία του Αβραάμ»
In 1590 he moved to Χάνδακα [Handaka or Candia] which is todays Herakleion, Crete, where he married and lived. He was a member of a literary group called Accademia degli Stravaganti (Academy of the Strange Ones), which was founded by his brother and fellow writer Andrea Cornaro.
He inspired many, such as: Διονύσιος Σολωμός, Κωστής Παλαμάς, George Seferis
