Winter Severity Index is a New Wave project from Rome (Italy) by Simona Ferrucci, singer, guitarist, composer and songwriter.
The project was born as a traditional band, formed by four young women in 2009.
During 2010 the band published a self-released EP, "Winter Severity Index", distributed by AF Music, now almost sold-out.
In the same year and in 2011 the band received lots of good reviews all over Europe and performed gigs in Italy, in Berlin and in Lisbon, at the Graveyard Fest, sharing the stage with important artists of the new wave scene like Charles de Goal, Phantom Vision, Joy Disaster, Soviet Soviet.

In January 2012 the project took the form of a duo, after the decision of two members to leave the band. Simona continued collaborating with Valentina Fanigliulo, a.k.a. Mushy.
Simona and Mushy published a new track "Embracing the void" on the Death # Disco Compilation Volume 2.
They had some gigs in Italy and still in Berlin during 2012 and 2013 and recorded the new EP " Survival Rate" , released on May 2013 as a vinyl by Bloodrock Records.

Then Simona started to collaborate with Alessandra Romeo (keyboards and synth with Cat Fud and Bohemien).
The new partnership with Alessandra started in December 2012, on the occasion of the opening act for the gig by The Chameleons' vox. Simona as WSI, took this concert with Alessandra, Giovanni Stax and Marco Caterpillar, presenting new songs arrangements and starting a new artistic fellowship with the keyboardist.
During the following months they recorded and released the first W.S.I. full leght album.
