Jo Anne Ryan

Real name: Jo Anne Hall née Florence Subach

American radio and big band vocalist from Frackville, Pennsylvania, active in the 1940s

She was discovered while attending high school in Frackville. Soon after graduation, in 1941, she left Frackville and moved to Chicago, and a couple of months after, she was singing professionally on the local radio. From there she went on to sing with several orchestras, including those of Bobby Sherwood, Jan Savitt, Ray Anthony, and Alvino Rey, and recorded for Capitol Records. She met her future husband, Ralph Hall of Rey's vocal group The Airliners (and later The Blue Reys), in the mid 1940s.
