Irwin Hoffman

Irwin Hoffman (1924–2018) was an American conductor from New York. He studied at the Juilliard School with Serge Koussevitzky and debuted as a conductor with The Philadelphia Orchestra at Robin Hood Dell (now Mann Music Center) at the age of seventeen. Hoffman served as the music director of Vancouver Symphony Orchestra from 1952 to 1964, and held several positions at The Chicago Symphony Orchestra, such as an assistant (1964–65) and associate conductor (1965–68), acting music director (1968–69), and conductor (1969–70).
