Rolando Aguilo
Cuban Trumpet player, composer and band leader (Matanzas, Cuba, 1931 - Miami, 9 Mar. 2007), also known as Rolando “El Ruso” Aguiló, he was one of the first Cuban musicians to bring jazz elements to the Descarga in the mid-1950s. He founded "Conjunto Progreso" and his own combos and moved to the USA in 1967 where he played with Julio Gutiérrez.
Son of bassist Mario "Chicho" Aguilo (with whom he played in the Conjunto Casablanca), father of Johnny Aguilo, lead of Conjunto Progreso.
