Thomas Böttcher is, together with Marco Hartmann, one of the founders of "Nordcore G.M.B.H.". In the beginning of his DJ-career in the Hamburg Techno Club "Secret" and later on in one of the most famous Hardcore Clubs in Germany, Hamburgs "The Box", Thomas Böttcher named himself "TB-CD-DJ" (when he was member of "Die Tekknokraten" and the "T.K.K. DJ-Team") which means "Thomas Böttcher CD DJ" - as he only played with CDs. In the first years of "Nordcore", he changed his name into "Toma" as a short cut of his forename Thomas. After Marco Hartmann left Nordcore in 1997, Thomas Böttcher changed his artist-name once again, this time into "The Butcher", which sounds similar to his surname Böttcher.
Most of his productions, co-productions and remixes are released under the name "Nordcore G.M.B.H." and "The Butcher", most other aliases from him are various DJ Names.
