American soul vocalist.

Born August 1st, 1945 in Harlem, New York City, New York
Died April 30th, 2003 (Age 57)

Jimmy Jackson was the son of a woman gospel singer, and won top-amateur honors at the Apollo Theater in New York City, New York in 1959. He struggled for 14 years after that as a vocalist and guitarist, but eventually became a police officer. In Connecticut he became a five year veteran patrolman of the New Haven police department by 1975. This is where it is believed that Jackson spent most of his life. He still kept his music career going, cutting a few singles for Buddah Records in the early 1970's and eventually releasing one album on the label in 1976, "Rollin' Dice". He put out one last single in 1981 (It's Summertime Again), he quietly left the record industry.

Not much is known what happened to the 6' 3" artist after that. He was known by 1975 to perform with a Bridgeport, Connecticut female trio by the name of "Black Magic", consisting of Charlene Whittaker, Rose Gaines and Bennie Dennis. At this point he was also backed by the Naugatuck, Connecticut band by the name of Water Witch, which perhaps accompanied him on the 3-night stand he had with Melba Moore and other Buddah Records acts at the Apollo Theater around 1975. The father of five was also a Jehovah's Witness.
