Muzak For Cages

Effective period / Period of releases: 1998 - 2023

Members: Michaela Geist, Systemhure, Gunda Spina, Michaela Geist & Plants Behind Bars, Andreas-Michael Lucas

"Muzak For Cages" was started around 1980 as a studio-only project for popular and experimental electronic music. Early 1998 they released "Slow Glow", but after that decided to work in private. A shortlived radio show ("Der Frost Zirkus") on a small local radio station in Germany, was hailed to be "unlistenable".

"Muzak For Cages" collaborates with Michaela Geist (Arrangements), "Musikverbot" (Editing, Remixing), Gunda Spina (Publicity), "die objektive linsensuppe" (optical sampling). Other sideprojects inside this tightly closed circle are: "Gunda Spina and her Band of merry synthesizing Minors", "SystemHure", "Michaela Geist & Plants behind Bars" and "Heinzi Drysenkøtel und die Pympl".

Since 2012, "Muzak For Cages" decided to open their private archive to the internet for free. All of their albums and collaborations are permanently posted under their name at "archive.org". From 2023 on, a selection of their albums was posted for free on "jamendo".
