Zambian rock and Kalindula group

5 Revolutions was originally formed in 1968 under the band name "The Twangs." The original lineup included Chris Mbewe who left the band early on and later became the lead guitarist for Witch. The band played bars and other venues in Zambia's Copperbelt and were eventually discovered and supported by Zambia Music Parlour (ZMPL). The 5 revolutions became ZMPL's most successful band. In 1975 the 5 Revolutions released their first rock album 5 Revolutions - Boyfriends under the ZMPL label. They would release two more rock albums in the late 1970's before switching to Kalindula music by 1980. Their last album, 5 Revolutions - Kachasu Ne Ndoshi was released in 1986 but they also released a number of singles in the 1970's and 80's and were active live performers. The band remained active in the 1980s and into the 1990s until the demise of ZMPL. The last member of the band passed away in 2012.
