Leonhard Widmer
Swiss poet and lyricist, born June 12, 1808 in Feldmeilen, Kanton Zürich; died May 18, 1868 in Oberstrass, Kanton Zürich. He became a close friend of Swiss composer Alberich Zwyssig. Due to this friendship, he wrote the lyrics of the "Schweizerpsalm", the current national anthem of Switzerland.
