The Gimmicks

Swedish group that was started by Leif Carlqvist in 1968. They did Swedish interpretations of samba hits by groups such as Sergio Mendes & Brasil '66. Their own version of "Latin Groove" lead to an international release and recordings in English. Group members came and went but the group stayed sought after for bookings around the world.

The group took part in the Swedish pre-selections for the Eurovision Song Contest in 1975 and finished second with "Sången lär ha vingar". The group was disbanded a few years later but made a comeback in 2005 with new members, lead by Leif Carlqvist.

None of the group's records sold exceptionally well but they have become sought after by record collectors around the world.
