Spiegel String Quartet

The Spiegel String Quartet is a government-funded Belgium chamber ensemble, founded in 1996 and based at Muziekcentrum De Bijloke and the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp. The group participated in various music festivals and gave concerts at many prestigious venues, including Société Philharmonique De Bruxelles, deSingel, Concertgebouw, Amsterdam, Théatre Du Châtelet, Paris, Muziekcentrum Frits Philips, Theater Aan Het Vrijthof, De Doelen, Meistersingerhalle, Funkhaus, Hannover, Konzerthaus Berlin, Blackheath Halls, Festival Van Vlaanderen Brussel, and Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival.

The quartet had been collaborating with pianists Stephen Bishop-Kovacevich, Joanna MacGregor, Bernhard Wambach, Florent Boffard, accordionist Teodoro Anzellotti and clarinetist Jörg Widmann. Their repertoire covers the wide range of styles, from Beethoven, Schumann, Schubert and Brahms to George Crumb, Dmitri Shostakovich, Iannis Xenakis, Matthias Pintscher and other contemporary composers.
