Lady Complainer was the calypso alias of Daisann McLane, an American journalist and travel writer who has worked for the New York Times, Rolling Stone, National Geographic, and many other publications. During her travels in Trinidad, she was accepted into the fold of calypsonians and performed for two seasons in the Master's Den tent alongside Shadow, Cro Cro, and other top names in the genre.
