Clark Terry (born December 14, 1920, St. Louis, Missouri, USA - died February 21, 2015, Pine Bluff, Arkansas, USA) was an American jazz trumpeter, flugelhornist, vocalist, composer and bandleader. He worked with both Count Basie and Duke Ellington. He was a major influence on Miles Davis and worked with luminaries such as Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald, among many others. He was also an innovator, with the ability to use circular breathing for extended solos and alternating between both horns, with one in each hand, playing ambidextrously. Awarded a lifetime achievement Grammy in 2010.
