Fritz Ihlau
Real name: Dr. Fritz Ihlau
German composer, born 28.8.1909 in Hannover, died 13.01.1995. After the war, Ihlau startet to work as a recording and sound engineer for Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR) in Cologne. In 1961 he became the main program designer in the light music department. As a sound engineer, Ihlau worked with numerous well-known artists, including Caterina Valente and Peter Alexander and orchestras, especially Orchester Harald Banter, Orchester Kurt Edelhagen or Hermann Hagestedt Mit Seinem Orchester. During his work for broadcast/radio, Ihlau created works in various genres, including radio play music, orchestral works, an operetta and songs. He also published numerous short rhythmic instrumental works under his alias Fred Langen. From 1974 onwards, Ihlau, who had retired, devoted himself more to choral music and also composed and arranged brass music of a folk and sophisticated character.
