Born 1909 in St Kilda, Victoria or Balaclava, Victoria, Australia.
Died (age of 50) in 1959.
Stedeford had her radio start with the ABC, singing with Cecil Fraser's Band from 3LO. In 1935 she went to England and soon became the No. 1 crooner of the BBC. She had a successful career in the UK in the 1930s, performing with many of the prominent big bands of the time. The London Sunday Times ranked her among the five most perfect radio voices. She was also one of the first artists to be televised. When war broke out, she returned to Australia from Florida, USA. She married and had a family.
