The Aztecs were an Australian band formed in 1963 and were originally a four-piece instrumental group. With the advent of the Merseybeat sound, they added a lead singer, Billy Thorpe and the group became known as Billy Thorpe And The Aztecs. In 1965, the original members quit over a financial dispute and Thorpe reformed the band with new musicians.
