Annie MacLeod

Real name: Ann Campbell MacLeod

Composer and editor of traditional Scottish music.

Born: 16 Jan 1855
Died: 13 Apr 1921 in Crieff, Scotland.

Credited with collecting the air to the 'Skye Boat Song'. In 1879 while being rowed from Torrin to Loch Coruisk, in Skye, she heard an unknown rowing measure to which she added a second strain herself. Sir Harold Boulton is later attributed with adding the words in 1884 of the version that is known today.

Became Lady Wilson when she married Sir James Wilson, K.C.S.I. in 1888.
