Death thrash metal band from Costa Rica. The current members are Christopher "Mechas" Muñoz (vocals), Eduardo Marenco (guitar), Roberto Alfaro (Guitar), Isaac Antillón (Bass) and Pana Omodeo (drums). The group formed in 1988 in San Jose, Costa Rica, The band began recording and releasing several demos before releasing their debut studio album "From A Decadent World" in March 1995. They played in local bars and clubs, acquiring a cult following in the Costa Rican metal underground. Mantra promoted "From A Decadent World" with its first ever tour, opening for bands like Unleashed, Angeles del Infierno, Transmetal, Malon, Terror, Criminal, A.N.I.M.A.L., and others. In November 1998, Mantra released their second studio album, "Planeta Odio". Through this album the band reached more success in other Latin American countries. Mantra performed several tours in Guatemala, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Panama, Mexico, Italy, Cuba, and many more countries, opening for bands like Slayer, Anthrax, Helloween, Destruction, Virgin Steel, and more , Mantra support the original Iron Maiden vocalist Paul Di'Anno for his Latin American tour in 2008 and 2009.
