After the breakup of Merrell & The Exiles, Merrell Fankhauser formed a new band which he named Fapardokly -- the name being derived from the names of the original members: FA (Fankhauser) – PAR (Jack Parrish) – DO – (Bill Dodd) KLY – (Dick Lee). FAPARDOKLY. After playing an extended residency in Pismo Beach, California, they moved to Los Angeles in search of a record deal. Having secured the deal the record company convinced them to change the band's name to Merrell Fankhauser & H.M.S. Bounty
