The Morticians

Effective period / Period of releases: 1987

Members: Lenin England, Wednesday Childs, Ben Sofa-Coffin

Sometimes listed as a Brighton group, in fact The Morticians were from Eastbourne, just along the coast.
Formed by the Redfern brothers in 1986 they pressed 500 copies of the 'Freak Out' album in 1987, followed by a second pressing of 1000 a bit later.
The first side of the album features covers of '60s psychedelic and garage hits by The Litter, Chocolate Watch Band and The Gonn, amongst others.
The second side consisted of all-originals (except for a Small Faces cover) and was in a slightly harder-edged and heavier psychedelic vein.
