Minneapolis-based composer and producer Charles Gorczynski creates future-driven and emotionally resonant music. He is involved in contemporary chamber music, new tango, improvised music, and electronic production. His writing embraces our increasingly anti-genre new music world and freely cultivates a new sound, one with equal parts deep reverence for cultural traditions and brazen new compositional work.

Charles is also a professional bandoneonist and saxophonist. He has worked as an instrumentalist for a decade in the jazz and improvised music circles in Chicago, and a decade working in both contemporary and traditional tango ensembles in San Francisco: spearheading projects, collaborating with like minds, and organizing 100+ performances annually. His bands Redwood Tango Ensemble and Colorlist have toured extensively, performing widely in North America and Europe. His compositions have been premiered with Chamber Music Northwest Festival and Intermusic SF, where he was twice awarded the MGP grant commissioning new work for chamber ensemble. As a producer, Charles creates free-form electronic music under the name IVYASA, cultivating a video series and collaborations.
