Biography

The Power And The Fury Orchestra
Real name: Glenn Danzig and The Power and Fury Orchestra
Effective period / Period of releases: 1987
In February 1987, the Samhain line-up was transitioning to a heavier, more sophisticated sound. This included Glenn Danzig, Eerie Von, John Christ and London May. Drummer London May was asked to quit the band, so by March of that year, Rick Rubin had already expressed interest in signing Glenn Danzig as vocalist for a hard rock supergroup. However, Danzig would not sign without also signing Eerie Von on bass. Rubin eventually added John Christ on guitar and Chuck Biscuits (formerly of Black Flag and Ex D.O.A.) on drums. To avoid further lineup changes, Glenn, following Rubin's advice, changed the name of Samhain to his own surname, Danzig. So as result of the changes made the band recorded the famous Life Without A Net demonstration tape previously before September of ’87 when the band initiated the recording sessions for the Danzig’s self-titled debut album. Notes: After signing with Def American, Danzig was asked by Rick Rubin to do a song for the "Less Than Zero" soundtrack. According to Eerie, "You & Me" was based on the song "To Sir with Love." It was the first time the Danzig lineup had recorded together and Eerie did not like the way Rubin wanted the bass played. He gave the bass to George Drakoulias, a shooting star producer climbing in the media. The band was credited as Glenn Danzig and The Power and Fury Orchestra. The rest of the musicians on the song were paid session musicians. The ladies on choir and other orchestrations remained uncredited yet.
