Walter Jerry Payton was an American football running back who played for the Chicago Bears of the National Football League for thirteen seasons. He was known around the NFL as "Sweetness".

Late in Walter Payton’s career, he began serving as a pitchman for Kentucky Fried Chicken. This entailed a commercial, some appearances and a flexi disc single, Doin’ it Right, which the restaurant chain distributed throughout Illinois as a promotional tool.
