Patria is a tamburitza ensemble that was founded in Županja, Croatia, in July 1993 - during the strongest town shelling and a war-siege that had lasted for 1263 days. At that time, in almost impossible and inhuman living conditions, the musicians, only 16-yearolds, had found through their music and love towards the tamburitza their own way of resistance towards the misfortune and war-hardship that was threatening their country and other regions of former Yugoslavia during the 1990s. In spite of all the hardship their country went through they significantly named themselves "Patria".
