Phetsta

Real name: Whetu Kay

Effective period / Period of releases: 2005 - 2011

Australian drum & bass and dubstep producer.

Phetsta came to international attention in 2005 when he signed exclusively to Technique Recordings, after initial releases on the pioneering Kinematic320 netlabel.

He quickly gained accolades, cracking the UK Drum & Bass top 10 sales charts with 'The Congo EP', singles regularly touching down in the Beatport top 10, and some collaborations with Shock One that won them the 'best tune' award at the 2008 PDMAs and a top 3 placing on Triple J's Super Request, and another PDMA in 2010 for 'best tune' with his dubstep remix of Shock One's 'True Believer'. In 2011 his collaboration with Mad Decent vocalist Reija Lee 'Run You Down' was the 6th most viewed music video overall, and 40th overall the day it hit youtube.

Later in 2011 he collaborated with Shock One on 'Crucify Me'. The two part track helped them become the first artists ever to top both the Track It Down D&B and dubstep charts simultaneously. It held onto the Beatport Drum & Bass top spot for six weeks straight and again received daytime radio play.
