Joseph Shlisky
b. Ostrowce, Poland 1894 - d. New York 1955. He migrated to Toronto, Canada in 1907 at the age of 11. He studied at the Toronto Conservatory of Music and later was cantor in various synagogues in New York, performed for the radio and made recordings. At the height of his fame in 1934 he had a stroke and could no longer sing.
