The Scabs

Effective period / Period of releases: 1983 - 1993

Members: Franky Saenen, Guy Swinnen, Berre Bergen, Tjenne Berghmans, Fons Sijmons, Willy Lambregt, Mark Vanbinst

The Scabs was founded in Diest in 1981 by Guy Swinnen (vocals, guitar), Berre Bergen (bass), Francis Vangeel (guitar) and Franky Saenen (drums). Throughout its history the group knew several line-up changes. Originally more punk-oriented, the arrival of guitarist Willy Willy (coming from Vaya Con Dios) in 1985 resulted in a change of musical direction, playing more straightforward rock 'n' roll. In 1996 the group was disbanded but it was reformed in 2007 to celebrate its 25th anniversary. They released their last album "Ways Of A Wild Heart" in 2015. The Scabs are best known for their hit singles "Matchbox Car" (1983) and "Hard Times" (1991).
