Rosie And Ron

Real name: Lucy Duran and Ralph Valdez (R. Valdez)

Effective period / Period of releases: 1961

San Gabriel Valley, California group.

"Rosie and Ron" was the recording alias of Lucy Duran (of Chino, California, who sang for the Pomona, California band The Velveteens) and Ralph Valdez, a Hawthorne, California musician.
They were signed to Bob Keane's (of Del-Fi Records ) label Donna. Keane chose the alias based off the then-popularity of Rosie & The Originals and, depending on whom you ask, either Ron Holden or Ronnie & The Pomona Casuals.
Their melancholic 1961 flipper Rosie And Ron - So Dearly / Bring Me Happiness was their sole release, and was a fast-seller in the Los Angeles area, leading good-quality copies to become sought-after.

The identities of "Rosie" and "Ron" have long been rumored to included Rose Hamlin, Ron Holden, Terri Valenzuela (singer of The Velveteens) and Ruben Pando (a songwriter from Pomona, CA who wrote for, among others, Rosie And Ron, The Velveteens, and Rene And Ray. These mix-ups are understandable given the relatively close association of all aforementioned persons.
