Born in Spain and moved to Mexico at the age of 15; Mayté became one of the few female singers in the Mexican Rock 'N Roll era thanks to her break-through hit “El Gran Tomas” (Spanish versión of "Norman" by Sue Thompson) which launched her popularity in Mexico.She made her big screen debut that same year in the Viruta Y Capulina movie "Buenos Dia Acapulco"
