Walon Smith is a singer/songwriter and bassist. He has been a member of The Bugs, Big Blonde, The Lolas, The Whompus Cats, The Woodpeckers, The Dirty Little Rock Band, and Daddy Longlegs. He has also recorded as a solo artist and led his own group, Walon and the Wilton Playboys. He owns his own recording studio and has worked frequently as a studio musician for Birmingham recording artists such as Will Kimbrough, Ed Reynolds and John P. Strohm.In 2001 Phil and Walon, Smith's collaboration with Phil Proctor was nominated for "Best Country/Bluegrass" in the Birmingham Weeklys Birmingham Area Music Awards.
