Real name: Leon Megerdichian

American jazz trumpeter as well as composer, arranger, and conductor. Born: September 17, 1923 South Braintree, Massachusetts Died August 15, 2007. He played in the Lucky Millinder And His Orchestra, making him one of the first whites to play in an all-black band. He learned trumpet from Georges Mager. Merian was also a French teacher and public school administrator.
