British jazz singer, born October 21st, 1933, Whitechapel (London) - died July 5th, 1992 (London)
Stage debut 1956, her films include "The Fixer" and "Lock Up Your Daughters".
She is best known for creating the role of Nancy, the female lead in Lionel Bart’s hit musical "Oliver!" (1960), based on Charles Dickens’s novel "Oliver Twist." Her television work included appearances on “Murder, She Wrote,” “Star Trek: The Next Generation” and “Cheers” (for which she earned an Emmy® nomination).
