Jacob L. Merkur

Real name: Jacob Louis Merkur

American pianist and composer (b. April 7, 1895 Czernowitz, Galizien, Austria Hungary – d. November 1982 New York, NY)

Merkur immigrated to the United States as a child; he became a naturalized citizen in 1904. In 1918, he served as a Musician in the navy. From the 1920s to the 1950s, Merkur worked as a musician on ships crossing the Atlantic Ocean or on cruise ships traveling between New York and the West Indies.

Merkur's compositions include "Rosie (Make It Rosy For Me)" (1920), "Bahama Moon" (1920); "I Lost My Heart To You" (1921), and "Mountaineers' Hoedown". He also composed the music for two 1932 horror movies, "The Horror" and "Devil's Playground".
