Biography
John Hawkins
Canadian modern classical composer, pianist, conductor, and teacher, born in Montréal (1944-2007). Studied composition with Istvan Anhalt at McGill University. 1983 recipient of the (Governor General) Jules Léger Prize for new chamber music. Taught analysis and performance of twentieth-century repertoire at the University of Toronto. Active with Société de musique contemporaine du Québec (Montreal) and New Music Concerts (Toronto).
