American jazz pianist, born August 08, 1918 in Palmer, Texas, died September 3, 1986 in Los Angeles, California.
"Knocky" worked with western swing bands The Wanderers (1935) and Light Crust Doughboys (1937-1939); after World War II traditional jazz with Zutty Singleton, Albert Nicholas, Doc Evans, Omer Simeon, Tony Parenti and others.
He made the first recordings of the majority of the piano rags of Scott Joplin and James Scott, and helped familiarize new audiences with this music.
