The Wigs

Effective period / Period of releases: 1981

Members: Jim Cushinery, Marty Ross (2), Scott Krueger, Bobby Tews

1980's power pop band from Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The group was formed in 1979 by high school friends Jim Cushinery and Bobby Tews, joined by Marty Ross with a sound that blended punk elements with Beatles-inspired pop, Cushinery said.

Bassist Pachner dropped out before the band released its debut album "File Under: Pop Vocal" in December 1981. When it failed to gain much traction, the Wigs performed what was to be a farewell show at Summerfest in 1982, and Cushinery, Ross and Tews relocated to Los Angeles.

The Wigs were revived in 1984 for a planned sophomore album, but "our mixes were bone dry and unsellable," Cushinery said. The Wigs did some recordings for CBS Records, but when the label was downsized, the band was dropped.

Members included:
Marty Ross: Vocals, Guitar
Bobby (full name Bobby Tews): Drums
Jim Cushinery: Vocals, Guitar
Scott Krueger: Bass (short tenure during the Los Angeles based years)

Bass guitarist Bob Pachner left the band shortly before the group's album was recorded
