US american tenor vocalist, born December 27,1909 in Norfolk, Virginia, died November 7, 1987 in Amsterdam, NetherlandsBrother of Peanuts Holland. Started his career as a big band vocalist in the 1930s but continued studying to become a classical singer. In 1949, he moved to Europe (first Stockholm, then Paris) as there were more jobs for African American classical vocalists.
