The Minnesota Scandinavian Ensemble

"The Minnesota Scandinavian Ensemble first appeared under that name in 1975 on Garrison Keillor's "Prairie Home Companion Show" on KSJN-FM Radio in St. Paul. Since then the ensemble has performed for many Scandinavian functions, including two appearances at the Leamington Hotel during the visit of King Olav V of Norway in October 1975. One month earlier the ensemble performed in a film with Norwegian entertainer Erik Bye, produced for Norwegian television. The ensemble also appears on the Norwegian-American sesquicentennial album "Scandinavian-American Folk Dance Music," Vol. I and II, and on the LP "Saturday Night Old Time." The ensemble appeared frequently on KSTP-TV "Take Five" and "Country Day" shows; WCCO-TV "This Must Be The Place," and WCCO-AM "Howard Viken Show."They have also performed at the annual Setesdalslaget meetings in Oklee, Minnesota, and the Decorah Nordic Fest."
